At the end of the 2020 season the Committee is likely to set the bar for "staying up" higher than in the past. Do not assume you are safe from demotion until you have 2500 points in Prem, or 1250 points in Div 1. MORE>

Dart Div 2/3 Rescheduled to 21/22 March

The Dart Country Park Div 2/3 and Open has been rescheduled to 21/22 March. Short notice but we've got a replacement date for the event. There will be no late entry fees and we have been invited to join the paddler party also happening during the weekend.

Entries now being taken online.

Orton Mere Div 2/3 March 7/8 Postponed

It is with regret that, due to the ongoing exceedingly high water levels, we are going to have to postpone our event. Even if it doesn't rain after this weekend, the river will not drop quickly enough to give safe paddling conditions next weekend.

We will refund all entries. Provisionally we will reschedule the event for the 10/11 October.

Pete Atkinson, Chair Proteus CC

Shepperton 14/15 March Div 2 WILL go ahead

Our Div 2 double is going ahead, and while we have plenty of water we can create a suitably challenging course for paddlers.

The kitchen will be providing hot food through the weekend.

Shane Timlin

Matlock Slalom 21/22 March Postponed

The recent floods destroyed all the lines, gates and flood lights at Matlock. We have been able to clear most of the debris and have a flood relief grant from Sport England to re-cable the course and replace all the training gates, electrics and floodlights.

Unfortunately this has coincided with engineering work by Network Rail, using the derelict Colour Works as a base. We cannot access the site until their work is completed, probably not before the end of March, and we cannot be sure of rebuilding the course in time for the slalom. With regret, we have taken the decision to postpone our slalom until we can reinstate the course.

Date Change for Scottish Schools Event

The Scottish Schools Race will be run at the Alva Div 3/4 on 12 September, instead of the June 6/7 race. The Div 3/4 events are unchanged.

Llandysul Div 1 7th and 8th March

Hopefully we will have perfect water levels for this year's race, and the start list is filling up nicely.

Our club house will be open for the first time since the floods in Oct 2018, with new carpets, showers and kitchen. As we have new carpets we are asking people not to come into the main centre in wet kit or muddy shoes, and dogs will not be allowed past the wetroom area.

We do have space in the bunk house if anyone is looking for a place to stay. The cost is £15 per person per night.

See you all soon
Gareth and all at Llandysul.

Manvers paddler to represent Jamaica

Solomon Maragh, age 15, has been selected to represent Jamaica as that country’s first canoe slalom athlete at the ICF Pan America Championships in Rio on 3rd-5th April.

FULL STORY>

Solomon and his family face lots of challenges – not least of which getting a boat to paddle in Rio! The cost of shipping a boat there is prohibitive so ideally he needs to be able to borrow a boat from one of the other nations.

Anyone who can help Solomon should contact his father Dean on 07973887839 or by email at .

2020 Bib Applications

If you send your bib application in anything larger than a C5 envelope, or if it is a small envelope and the stuff inside makes it over 5mm thick, put a large letter stamp on it.

The bib officers will do their best to fold your bib within the "large letter" rules, but give them a chance! For the stamped addressed envelope you send for your bib:

Do put on at least £1.40 in postage.

Don't use a padded envelope. The extra thickness will make the envelope too thick for the "large letter" rate.

Don't use anything smaller than C4 (about 32cm x 22.5cm, the size that takes an A4 page unfolded). The extra fold we'll have to put in the bib will make the envelope too thick for the "large letter" rate.

Don't use one of those huge envelopes. They are too big for a "large letter".

BIB APPLICATION FORM>

K1M Prem: Tracy will take bibs to HPP, Lee Valley and Grandtully if you send all the paperwork to her by the Wednesday before each race.

K1M Div 3: Karen can take bibs to Stone, Aberfeldy and Oughtibridge if you before the event (for Aberfeldy, before 7th April).

C2: Stuart can take bibs to HPP and the Tully Prem. Paddlers should in advance and bring the paperwork with them to exchange for the bib.

K1W Prem and Div 1: Sally will be at Shepperton, at the Prem and Selection races at HPP and Lee Valley and at Tully, and can deliver bibs there or to HPP in the next few weeks if paddlers send her the paperwork in good time.

K1W Div 2 and 3: Donna will be at all three Stone Minis. You will need to in advance to ensure she brings your bib, and you will need to bring your Bib Application Form, Bib Voucher and proof of membership.

C1M Div 2 and 3: Nigel will be at the Stone minis and Tuesday night sessions and at HPP every Wednesday evening. He has  quite a few VERY large SAE’s that came for the voucher which he will send out shortly. Please contact Nigel if you think post may have gone astray or anything is missing - use .
